Changemakers

Soursop has worked over a multi-year period with storied luxury house Gucci to bring a comprehensive cultural transformation strategy to life.

Changemakers London aims to promote a positive impact for the fashion and creative industries in the capital by championing young creative talents from underrepresented communities. There are now plans to roll out across EMEA in the coming years.

Our thoughtfully designed programme for Gucci, includes multidisciplinary scholarships, workshops and partnerships.

These include key grassroots organisations who are using creativity to help alter the future of marginalised young adults in London: Art Against Knives, The Advocacy Academy and RISE 365.

The Changemakers scholarship with London College of Fashion (part of University of Arts London) offers 9 students over the course of 3 years a full scholarship (including tuition fees, accommodation and living costs) to study.

Due to the programme’s northstar of changing representation in the industry, the scholarship targets a selection of BA courses that are associated with the business of fashion and fashion media. This way Gucci will be able to practically offer opportunities to scholars in London itself.

We also involved key industry leaders  Vanessa Kingori (Chief Business Officer at Condé Nast Britain and Vogue European Business Advisor) and multidisciplinary artist Ronan McKenzie to help guide and inspire the young adults involved in the programme.

The initiative will also showcase an end-of-year exhibition of creative work, co-created by McKenzie and a host of young creative talent from Changemakers London.

Changemakers London launched in October 2023, but the work behind the scenes from inception began in late 2020. Doing the groundwork and listening to our partners needs was key to make sure the programme has a lasting effect.
